ABOUT US
WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO.

The University of Miami’s undergraduate, volunteer student organization known as Girls Inspiring Rising Ladies in STEM (G.I.R.L.S.) works to empower young women to find their passion in STEM related topics by providing them with a hands-on, supplemental STEM education and mentoring program.
The mission of GIRLS is to help female students from underdeveloped schools better understand the importance of foundational STEM topics in an exciting and supportive environment. This mission is accomplished through the hard work of the GIRLS executive board, chairs, and volunteers.

Since October 2017, the concept and mission of GIRLS rapidly has grown from an idea that some friends simply discussed to a full functioning, student-run organization of over 80 members and several successful events. We also have partnered with PACE Center for Girls Miami and George Washington Carver Middle School.
As one of the newest and fasting growing organizations at the University of Miami, we invite you to be an active member of our mission to build a community of empowered, female STEM activists, doers, and change-makers.
Meet The Friends.
